Since 2009 the city of Graz honours the organizers of innovative scientific conferences with an award. On May 13th 2014 Graz University of Technology with the Institute of Technology and Testing of Building Materials and its working group ‘Sustainability Assessment’ has been acknowledged with the Congress Award 2014 together with AEE – Institute for Sustainable Technologies for their joint Sustainable Building Conference – SB13 Graz.
The jury praised especially the crucial role on forcing scientific discussions and linking research activities to industry. In this context such conferences build also a basis for politics and public authorities pushing the development and implementation of sustainable construction. Additionally the activities and possibilities in the frame of SB13 conference have been highlighted, offered to young researchers in terms of a PhD-workshop on Life Cycle Assessment (Ökobilanzwerkstatt) as well the WiSBA - the Wienerberger Sustainable Buildings Academy (www.wisba.wienerberger.com)
We would like to thank you all for your contribution and participation at the SB13 Graz, keeping in mind, that your effort was crucial for the success of the conference, providing a great scientific and social interaction for all participants.
